She was then discovered by the legendary filmmaker Roger Corman, casting her in “Wheels of Fire” and “Demon of Paradise” where she was eaten by a monster and literally almost killed making non-union movies in Southeast Asia. Since 1979, Laura Banks has been writing and performing comedy. She has a BFA in Fine Arts, with a minor in Communications from California State Northridge, Northridge, Ca. She spent a season at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville NY studying essay writing. While attending high school in Kansas City, Kansas, she was the editor of the student newspaper. Atria, a division of Simon and Schuster, picked up her third book, "Embracing Your Big Fat Ass" where there was a bidding war between Warner Books and Ballentine for the rights. Her co-author was Janette Barber, who won multiple Emmys for her television writing. Laura Banks has been published three times, with her first two books released with Career Press Publishers, and her second book selling over 250,000 copies and was a USA Today Bestseller. Laura got her first acting break in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”.
